As a trained field botanist, agriculturalist and herbalist, I know plants. Perhaps a bit too much because I have certainly become quite obsessed with this WEIRD + WONDERFUL WORLD OF BOTANY. The road to growing crops and making art began in 2002 as I was training to become a field botanist travelling to places such as Costa Rica to study agricultural crops (tea, coffee, chocolate and bananas) and doing research into plant pathology as a graduate student (Manitoba, yes, Manitoba). My passion for blending teas and making art eventually bloomed into a tea business, "GEEK+TEA" in 2013 which was wildly successful in the geek and nerd realm however with the pandemic brought lots of change and I had to make the decision to close in 2020.

In 2023 I teamed up with a friend to create some geeky artful subscription boxes and my love for business bloomed again! Now a days you can purchase my RETRO SCIFI BOTANICAL PRINTS here from the shop, or if I happen to be at FANEXPO CANADA.

Me? Well, I love working with the soil, driving a tractor, turning compost, and making a huge mess in the gardens - just ask my students. Coming home everyday with compost-encrusted hands and mud on the face is what drives my love of nature and organic gardening. Add in my geeky nerdiness and love of Star Trek, Doctor Who, etc. and you have a match made in sci-fi heaven.

Since my favourite things include growing crops, travelling, making art and teaching plant biology, this keeps me quite busy each day as I also have a fair number of honeybees and more potted plants then any sane person can manage. Please be kind and rewind; please be patient.
